New to Toast 15, Slice makes it easy to trim videos down to size, but doesn’t properly display content shot with the iPhone. The latter includes a flat UI that nicely complements macOS (something Toast itself sorely needs), although it’s a fairly basic affair encrypted content can be accessed on other systems with a reader app included when a volume is written. There are two new members to the lineup: Slice, a basic editor for trimming video clips, and Secure Burn, a lightweight utility for saving password-protected files and folders to encrypted Mac-formatted discs or thumb drives. The Pro version now includes over 100 MyDVD menu templates (which require a separate installation from the Pro Apps folder), but lacks support for ProRes files and suffers from some of the same stability issues that plague Toast. The highlight of Toast 14 was the inclusion of MyDVD, a new application with more comprehensive authoring tools for adding chapter stops, titles, and custom menus with music. Toast 15 looks exactly like the last few versions, but adds some annoying stability issues when using the Video tab. Case in point: Although the app icon has a fresh coat of red paint, whenever I burn a disc it temporarily switches back to purple, the color used in the previous Toast 14. Given the stagnant UI, I suspect Roxio is only applying Band-Aids to the code in an effort to cash in on upgrades. So when iDVD or Toast creates this very special structured DVD - You find the two (must be there) folders VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS (empty) - and if the DVD-player don't find this = it will not play.Worse yet, if I leave the Video tab open when quitting the application, the software takes forever to launch next time. I'm told that Compressor can do this - I never got it to deliver a Playable-DVD - BUT THIS IS DUE TO MY NEGLECT ! iDVD, DVD-Studio Pro, Burn, Roxio Toast etc etc Video-DVD - a DVD-authoring program is a MUST.DATA-DVD - Files from DeskTop just stored on a blank DVD - few DVD-players can play this (only very very new ones and they are rare - if I'm rightly informed). There are two kinds a blanc DVD can be burned as BURN SPEED - is a major contributor to this problem - I never go faster than x4 - I use as standard x2.DVD-R - plays on more DVD-players than DVD+R as it plays on even older DVD-players (DVD+/-RW - don't even think of it).Brand of DVD used matters - I only use Verbatim (more organic dye in these) - but there are other GOOD Brands. This is a question very familiar in iDVD forum. ![]() You can see how clueless I am about all of this □ Thanks for your help! So unfortunately, I'm not sure about the software that he used to create the DVD but I'll ask him if he can help remedy this issue or I will probably just take it to a production company to have a master disk made. He didn't offer to do anything else so I thought it was something he couldn't fix for me. When I encountered this issue last week I asked the person who made the video why it was unplayable and he said it probably had something to do with the fact that some machines can play re-writable disks and others can't. I need to be able to distribute copies of the DVD to dozens of other people which is why this is a concern for me. I did not test any other burned disks on those players, just the one I created (well, I tested two DVD copies of my video and neither played on either machine). I took it to a another office that has two DVD players and the disk was unreadable there. ![]() I had two machines in my office that I tested the copies on and they played fine. The person who shot and edited the video put it on a DVD for me and I burned copies for others to use. So now I'm trying to figure out how I can created a DVD that will be compatible with any DVD player or create an alternate version that can be played on the machines that currently can't play the DVD.ĭoes all of that make sense? I've been all over the internet and seen different suggestions for similar problems but I don't want to spend money or waste time trying different tactics that won't solve my problem. However, I tried it on two other DVD players and it could not be played. The master disk is a DVD-R and I burned the video on a Verbatim DVD-R which played fine on my MAc, a PC and two DVD players. The folder is titled "VIDEO_TS" and then the files within it have the following extensions. Someone created a video that I need to burn so the DVD can play on any DVD player. First, please forgive my ignorance because I do not work with video much and have no idea what I'm doing.
